London L. Bates is an experienced estate planning attorney and certified public accountant who brings a uniquely comprehensive perspective to her legal practice, combining legal insight with a deep financial foundation.
Ms. Bates graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law, where she ranked 5th in her class. During her first year, she distinguished herself by advancing to the “Sweet Sixteen” in the Moot Court Competition. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University.
In addition to her legal credentials, Ms. Bates is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, having passed the Uniform CPA Examination on her first sitting. Prior to attending law school, she worked as an auditor with a public accounting firm, contributing to audits for organizations including Sarasota County, Hospice of the Suncoast, and the Girl Scouts of the Suncoast. She also served as an adjunct accounting professor at the University of Tampa.
Ms. Bates has been a member of The Florida Bar since 2000 and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Supreme Court of the United States. She is also an active member of the Clearwater Bar Association.
Deeply committed to her community, Ms. Bates has held numerous leadership and service roles. She served for nine years on the Board of the Dunedin Fine Art Center, including two years as Chair, where she helped guide the organization through the challenges of the pandemic. She currently serves on the Board of Creative Pinellas, chairs the Sterling Society Trip Committee, and is a board member of Dunedin Cares, where she actively supports efforts to combat food insecurity in the local community.
A fifth-generation Floridian, Ms. Bates values time spent outdoors and enjoys swimming, hiking, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, reading, and connecting with nature. She is devoted to her church, family, friends, and the community.
